28 million meals were sent last year, from just one of many packaging sites in Iowa

Our goal is to raise $20,000.00 to allow 500 people to package!

Our first packaging went spectacularly!!

995 volunteers ages 5-89 packaged 115,560 meals!!!

What is Parish Families Against Hunger?

 

Outreach Inc. was organized in Iowa by Floyd and Kathy Hammer from Union, Iowa.  The organization is called Kids Against Hunger, which is one of the programs under the umbrella of Outreach Inc. When visiting Africa on a missionary project, the Hammers realized that the lack of food along with sanitary water supply were the two most needed essentials for the people in Africa. Upon returning to Iowa, the Hammers established Kids Against Hunger here in Iowa based in Union, Iowa

The parishes involved with this ministry project are St. Michaels, Whittemore; St. Joseph, Bode; St. Benedict, Algona; St. Joseph, Wesley, Sacred Heart, Livermore; and St. Cecelia, Algona.  Our mission is to package meals for the most needy children of the world. 

 


Only 3% of the money raised goes to Outreach’s administration for its various
effort to respond to the challenge of hunger, good water, medicine and
education for the poor.

 

For every $5,000.00 we raise we will be able to package 20,000 meals. 
Each person can package 150-170 meals per hour.  Our goal of
$20,000.00 will allow 500 or more people to package on March 28th
If we have more than 500 people who are interested in packaging, the
goal will need to be increased.


The meals will consist of rice, soy, dried vegetables, and vitamins. 
Each meal costs $0.25.  Each package contains six servings.   The
ingredients will be purchased from Outreach Inc., Union, Iowa
Our cost:  $0.16 for ingredients and supplies

                   $00.02.5 for domestic transportation

               $00.01.5 to run the warehouse

                                                                                $00.05 shipment costs

At each fund raising event, there are fair trade products available for purchase.  The proceeds benefit the Parish Families Against Hunger Efforts.
