St. Cecelia Parish

A community of faith, guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Faith Formation Mission Statement

The mission of the Southern Kossuth County Cluster Parishes is to be committed to helping children grow in their Catholic faith through experience and education.  The Parishes promote this formation of faith through community and by following the ways of Christ.

Calendars

I have created different calendars this year.
-The main skeleton of the calendar is the same for each grade- the dates of classes etc.
-The major events, ones that are not our  normal class times are bolded to help you
   notice them.
-I have also added to this calendar the topics the students will be taught (this is why
there are different calendars for different grades).
-K-6th grades use the same format of books, therefore, their all on one calendar, and
7-9th all use different books, therefore, each grade has its own calendar.
-I have listed the topic the student will be taught in parenthesis by each date.

PLEASE- be sure to ASK if you have any questions!!!  Thanks!

Getting involved!

There are many ways to get involved with Faith Formation.  Below is a list varying from teaching to baking.  Please look it over and see where you can best serve.  If you are interested in volunteering in some way, please contact Darcie Kramer at the parish office by phone (295-3435) or email dkramer@netamumail.com  Thank you and we hope to see you soon!

Teacher -- The Teacher is responsible for helping the children experience their faith.  They are to create lesson plans using materials provided and with help from the Director of Faith Formation if so needed.  The teacher is responsible for attending the monthly teacher's meeting and maintaining proper communication with the Director, other teachers, children, and parents.  All Teachers must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.

Teacher's Helper -- The Teacher's Helper has a more flexible role.  The Helper is in the room to help the Teacher keep things flowing and help the children participate.  They may lead a small group, read to the children, take attendance, pass out papers, keep students on task, listen to prayers, and depending on comfort level, they may help lesson plan and teach.  How involved the Helper becomes is up to the Helper and Teacher.  The Teacher's Helper will fill in as Teacher if the Teacher must be gone, and is responsible for attending the monthly teacher's meeting and maintaining proper communication with the Director, other teachers, children, and parents.  All Teacher's Helpers must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.

Substitute Teacher -- The Substitute Teacher will fill in for the Teacher if he/she must be gone.  No lesson planning is involved.  Materials and ideas will be ready for the Substitute to walk in and teach.  Substitute teachers will get the materials before the day of class so as they may be prepared and understand what they will do with the students.  All Substitute Teachers must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.

Hall Monitor --  The Hall Monitor should arrive 10 minutes before class starts to help students find their rooms and make sure the hallways are not getting congested.  They will collect attendance sheets once class has begun, and they will help the teachers take students to the rest room or care for a child that may become sick during class.  All Hall Monitors must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.

Crossing Guard --   The Crossing Guard will put out the stop sign on the South side of the school to allow safe travel for students into the school.  They will help little ones cross the street and keep the roadway safe.  They must arrive 15 minutes before class begins and stay until all students are gone.  All Crossing Guards must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.

Chaperone for Trips --  When a field trip is planned, some adult chaperones will be needed to help with a group of students.  All Chaperones must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.

Bake for Special Occasions --  Adults who volunteer to Bake for Special Occasions will be called 1-2 weeks in advance and will be given an amount of treats needed.  Most of the time, they can be sent to the occasion with your student, so no special trip would be required.  Usually, volunteers in this area are only called once a year.

Help with Special Projects --  Helping with Special Projects could be a variety of things.  A person may listen to a child recite a prayer or they may help with a Christmas Party by setting up, serving, and taking down.  Basically, if something comes up in which the program needs help, those signed up in this area would be called.  It would be beneficial for those wanting to help with Special Projects to have taken VIRTUS* in case a project calls for working directly with the children.

Volunteer in the Classroom -- A Volunteer in the Classroom may come in to help with a special art/music/craft project the teacher has planned, or any task for which the teacher would like extra help.  A parent would sign up to help in their own children's classrooms.  Volunteers in the Classroom must have taken VIRTUS* in order to volunteer.
